After researching metals used in rings, I came to the conclusion that I wanted a tungsten wedding band.
The advantages for me, were as follows:
1. Nearly indestructable (Don't have to baby it, like Platinum/Gold rings with diamonds. I'm very rough with my hands.)
2. Extremely hard to scratch, which also helps it keep its polish
3. Cheap (This was more of a bonus advantage, but didn't weigh on my decision as much as the first two advantages)
The only disadvantage to some, may be that you can't resize it do to its hardness. So if you outgrow it, you'll just have to buy another ring. Good thing they're cheap!
As for appearance, I couldn't be happier. It's a stunner, while being masculine. The Celtic markings give it a unique look, and break-up the reflections to make it look like it glimmers more than if it were a solid colored band. The color is much darker than it appears in Amazon's product picture, and some people have actually thought there was some black in it, but it's just the contrast between the color of the metal, and the white lights reflecting off of it. I've had several people comment and ask about it. All of it was praise for its beauty, though.
